OUR NETWORK

The Power of Good

The agencies, companies, donors and individuals in our network come together to make a difference in Atlanta.

Our Orchestrated Network

Second Helpings Atlanta has established relationships with over 75 food donors across metro Atlanta. Grocery stores, wholesale food warehouses, corporate kitchens, school cafeterias, stadium venues and restaurants are part of our vast network of food donors who are concerned about food insecurity and how food waste impacts the environment. They have agreed to join us in working to move the needle on these two critical issues. Our model is to use volunteers to transport the surplus food from food donors to our partner agencies in 90 minutes or less.

Coming Together Across Atlanta

We rely on our food donors as the source of the nutritious food our volunteers rescue every day.  Their generous donations of fresh produce, dairy, deli, bakery, proteins and frozen prepared food enables the receiving partner agencies to supplement their food programs with healthy alternatives.  Redirecting surplus food reduces food waste and helps our food donors be more sustainable organizations. When our partner agencies receive the rescued food, they may redirect the resources that would have been spent on food to other services that they provide to their clients. The Second Helpings Atlanta Food Network has a multi-dimensional impact: a reduction in food waste, a reduction in hunger, and an increase in resources for non-profits to provide more services to clients.
