New Partner Highlight – Mothers Advocacy Project (MAP)

Introducing: Mothers Advocacy Project (MAP)

We are absolutely delighted to share the news of our latest partnership with Mothers Advocacy Project (MAP), a transformative program that empowers mothers to become strong leaders within their families. MAP has proven to be a beacon of hope for countless moms who have completed the program, regaining control of their lives through enhanced parenting skills, family stability, and a robust support system.

Over the past five years, MAP has been making a meaningful difference in the lives of mothers in Atlanta, and their impact has now extended to surrounding areas. Their unique model, which is backed by data and proven to be effective, focuses on achieving family stability and fostering women-led families. In this context, mother figures can include grandmothers, aunts, or other fictive kin who have primary custody of the child(ren).

MAP is dedicated to supporting families through evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions, aiming to create lasting stability while advocating for healthy families, one mom at a time. Their program is tailored specifically for families at risk of or currently involved with the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) due to challenging life experiences. Through a series of interventions, including group and individual psychotherapy, social support, education, and engagement in participatory arts, mothers in the program are given the opportunity to establish independence, autonomy, and stability for themselves and their children.

In 2022, MAP achieved remarkable outcomes. An impressive 46% of clients who were previously unstably housed found stable housing by the end of the program. A significant 77% of clients reported increased emotional intelligence and awareness, indicating personal growth and development. Even more heartening, 92% of clients improved their sense of parenting competency, contributing to healthier family dynamics. And most remarkably, thanks to the support and empowerment provided by MAP, 100% of children were able to remain at home with their parents instead of entering foster care.

During our recent visit to MAP, we learned about an exciting collaboration they have established with UPS World Headquarters. MAP is now supplying UPS with food-safe containers, which the kitchen staff fills with individual portions of food. These meals are then provided to MAP clients either in their office as the clients receive services, or as a take-home item to support the women and children they serve even further. As UPS has been a long-time partner of ours as well, we are thrilled to facilitate and strengthen this meaningful relationship.

We are truly honored to be a part of the Mothers Advocacy Project and to contribute to the growth of their impact on families in Atlanta. By joining forces with MAP, we are dedicated to empowering mothers and nurturing stronger, more resilient families in our community. Together, we can create a brighter future for all, where every mother feels empowered and supported on her journey to leadership and stability.
