Taryn Bledsoe: It Just Feels Great

Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 7 – 14, 2019

Taryn Bledsoe feels strongly about social justice and volunteering. Those passions come together for her as a Second Helpings Atlanta volunteer driver. The 24-year-old grew up in Atlanta, moved to North Carolina and is now back in the ATL working at the Howard School, which she attended. Because she has anxiety, Taryn is sometimes hesitant to get involved in activities that require connecting with large numbers of people. Loading her car with food rescued from places like One Atlantic Center and Turner Broadcasting and delivering it to partner agencies is just right.

Another big draw is knowing that the donated food goes directly to organizations that feed the hungry. Taryn says sometimes it’s hard to be sure if money given to charities gets into the right hands.

“The food is really high quality and it feels great being able to give it to those in need,” she adds.
