SECOND HELPINGS STORIES
Driving Out Hunger, One Mile at a Time
Our Mission
Second Helpings Atlanta is a nonprofit food rescue organization whose mission is to reduce hunger and food waste in the Metro Atlanta area by rescuing healthy, nutritious surplus food and distributing it to those in need.
With a community of over 1,000 volunteers, SHA serves as the link between our network of food donors and partner agencies who feed the hungry on a daily basis. The food we rescue every day gets diverted from landfills and is used to feed those in need, making Atlanta a more environmentally responsible metropolitan area.
The Communities We Serve
Second Helpings Atlanta operates in the Metro Atlanta area, including Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, and Hall counties, with ambitious plans to expand into neighboring counties in the future.
Making Connections Across Atlanta
Every day, our volunteers are connecting sources of food with agencies who distribute it to those in need.
Food Donors
Our food donors are the source of the nutritious food our volunteers rescue every day, providing healthy alternatives to people who often survive on diets of highly processed food.
Partner Agencies
We leverage the services of our partner agencies to safely distribute rescued food to their clients, enabling them to improve the quality of their feeding programs.
Volunteers
Our passionate and committed volunteers perform dozens of food rescues every day, serving as the link between “those who have it” and “those who need it.”
Strategic Partners
The collaborative relationship we have with our strategic partners helps raise the visibility of our organization and accelerate the expansion of our food rescue network.
Financial Donors
The support of our financial donors is critical to our continued growth and the impact we make in our community.
